Month of the Military Child
April is the Month of the Military Child, it is a month long celebration with daily events in the Child Care Center, Youth Services and School Age Services programs. Events include but are not limited to:

Storybook Time
Arts & Crafts
Field Trips
Guest Speakers
Open House
Crazy Hat Day
Costume Day
Computer Lags
and lots more
The Month of the Military Child culminates with a picnic and family day event. Currently there are approximately 515 children between the ages of 6 weeks and 18 years old enrolled in programs with an additional 125 anticipated when the new Child Care Center opens this winter.
Masters Pro Pick Contest
This is the third year for the Masters Pro Pick Contest. Customers pick four players to make the cut. The must track players scores each day, total the scores, and the lowest score wins. Prizes awarded.
Pay Day Scramble
Held monthly at the Pines Golf Course, weather permitting. This event was developed to build espree de corps as well as develop new golfers. The scramble is open to all active duty military, civilians and retirees associated with Fort Eustis. Play usually begins at noon and finishes around 1630, scores are flighted and prizes awarded at the picnic style meal after play. Lower enlisted personnel are allowed to play at a much reduced rate or free depending upon sponsorship of the scramble. Size of monthly tournaments range from 85 to 144 plus players and provides a wonderful opportunity for networking.
Big Bubba Fishing Contest
Big Bubba is a catch and release fishing tournament and is a month long event, held on Lake Eustis every Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Fishermen line the banks of Lake Eustis and try to catch the biggest fish in the lake. All catch must be live when weighed and released immediately after weigh in. A prize is awarded each week for the largest fish and at the end of the tournament the fisherman with the highest cumulative weight wins. The tournament is open to the public and over the course of the month attracts over 150 active duty and retired military, Family members and civilians.
Military Spouses Day Golf Party
>This first time event was developed to introduce golf to those who are no so familiar with the sport. Our PGA pro will host a 1 day, 2 hours introduction to golf. It will focus on the various aspects of learning to play, i.e. golf etiquette, scoring, basic skills etc.
Army Soldier Show
The Army Soldier show is a high energy variety show with some of the best talent the Army has to offer. The Army Soldier Show motto is Soldiers entertaining Soldiers. Officer’s, Enlisted and Reservists alike can audition for the show as entertainers or technicians. Not only do they perform they also set up and break down the sets at each location they perform as well as maintaining Army standards for education and physical fitness. This event is usually two days in length and features three shows. It is open to the public and both evening shows are usually filled to capacity.
Outdoor Pool Splash Bash
Splash into the outdoor pool season. This event is designed for fun and to get everyone reacquainted with the outdoor pool. Free admission to the pool for all eligible users all weekend FREE. This event attracts active duty, and retired Solider’s and Family Members and eligible civilians.
Winefest
We are bringing back this popular event. It is an evening of learning and fun. A variety of Virginia Wineries will be invited to participate and offering participants the opportunity to sample their wares. Sponsors will have the opportunity to set up displays in the lobby and talk to attendees. Attendees will stroll through the ballroom and sample some of the best wines in Virginia. The club will host the event and provide hors d’oeuvres and foods to cleanse the pallet. Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase bottles of wine they sampled upon departure. This event is open to the public and attracts a wide cross section of attendees.
Aquatic Center Block Party
First time event designed to introduce the fun of swimming to the local community. Inflatable attractions will be set up in the parking lot, water games will be conducted in the adventure pool and the lap pool. There will be water pistol, hula hoop competition and lots of family fun. Admission is free and open to all eligible patrons.
Family Fun Day at The Pines
This is a first time event for the entire family at The Pines Golf Course. Events are designed for old an young alike. Children can play a mini round of golf on our putting green, be a participant in a mini clinic, drive a golf ball thru a hula hoop, enjoy inflatable attractions (bounce house, giant slide, Velcro wall and in the evening watch a movie on our outdoor screen. Plenty of room for sponsors to set up displays and talk to guests one on one. This event is open to the public and will attract a large cross section of active and retired military, civilian’s and Families.
Junior Golf Camp
These camps are designed to teach the basics of golf to youth. It is a great opportunity to learn the basics. Classes are taught by a PGA pro and are developed by the Professional Golf Association. These camps are open to the public.
Outdoor Concert
On July 13th Fort Eustis MWR will host a Country Concert featuring Sara Evans on Murphy Field. This event is free and open to the public. There are lots of opportunities for your company to meet our community, build brand awareness and show your appreciation to our Soldiers and their Families.
Iron Chef Grilling Contest
Break out your favorite recipe and apron to get your grill on. For the first time The Pines Golf Course will host “The Fort Eustis Iron Chef Grilling Contest”. Contestants have one hour to cook the protein we provide, and have access to our very limited pantry and shared grill space. Contestants will be judged on flavor, presentation and how well it fits in with the existing menu at the Golf Course. Prizes will be awarded. This event is open to the public.
Big Band Night
Do you miss the sounds of Tommy Dorsey, Dizzy Gillespie, Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman? If so you can catch your favorite tunes again at The Fort Eustis Club when they host Big Band Night. Dancing begins at 6 p.m. and goes until 9 p.m. Seniors dinner special begins at 4:30 p.m. This first time event is expected to draw a mature audience and is open to the public.
Outdoor Pool Closing Party
It is time to pull the plug on the outdoor pool season. This event is designed for fun. Free admission to the pool for all eligible users, FREE picnic, water games, water slide, bounce house, music and more. This event attracts active duty and retired Solider’s and Family Members and eligible civilians. It’s a Family fun day at the pool.
Oktoberfest/Holiday Bazaar
Oktoberfest is an annual event at Fort Eustis. Great German music, food and beverages are available. The event is held out doors under a large fest tent. There are FREE children’s activities to include face painting, pumpkin painting, an inflatable slide and bounce house. This year we are going to add a Holiday Bazaar so customers can get a jump on their Holiday Shopping. This event is open to the public and attracts 1,000 plus attendees.
The Pines Club Championship Tournament
This is a 36 hole stroke play tournament. There are several different divisions such as Active Duty champpionship which is open to all active duty soldiers stationed at Fort Eustis and for our club memberswe have disisions for Men's Championship, Men's Open, Men's Senior, Men's Super Senior, Woment's Championship, and Junior. they ar paried with people in their own division for day one and then repaired based on their standing in their division for day two. This is the unltimate tournament to see who the best golfers at Fort Eustis are in each division.
31st Annual Mulberry Island Run (5K and 1/2 Marathon)
Is set for 22 September 2012. This well established race is run on a Virginia certified course along both a scenic and historical route. The run is open to the public and 400 to 600 male and female runners, both military and civilian, along with their supporters. The race results are broken down by gender into age categories with the youngest group, beginning at age 19 and under, and topping out age 65 and over. Three plaques are awarded to each age group by gender. Cash prizes are awarded to the top overall runners (i.e. winner, record breaker). Each participant also receives a commemorative T-shirt.
Halloween Party
The Wheelhouse will be the location of this Spooktacular event . This is an adults only event at the Fort Eustis Club. Pumpkin Carving, bobbing for adult beverages, best costume, dancing and devilish delights await all that attend. The event is open to the public.
Oyster Roast and Clam Bake
A seafood lovers dream! This first time event will be held under the stars (and tents) in the parking lot of the Bowling Center. Fresh Oysters and Clams roasted in front of your eyes, Clam Chowder, Oyster fritters, french fries and cole slaw go into making this a favorite of seafood lovers. Add music for dancing, and FREE children’s events you have a great event. This event is open to the public.
Tree Lighting Ceremony
This event officially kicks off the Holiday Season. A Family member from the Exceptional Family member program is chosen to assist the Garrison Commander in turning on the Holiday Lights, carols are sung by on post choirs, Santa makes an appearance passing out sweets to the Children. After the ceremony cookies, hot cider and coffee are provided for all that attend.
Army Navy Football Showdown
One of the all time Military rivalries will be shown at the Lakeside Sports Bar in December . Games like pin the horns on the Black Knight etc. Door prizes every quarter!
Breakfast with Santa
Children of all ages are invited to have breakfast at The Fort Eusits Club with Santa, Mrs Clause and a few of their elves. Family friendly event that gives children an opportunity to talk to Santa make crafts and join in some Reindeer Games. Cany Canes, and gifts for the Children.
Army Family Action Plan
This annual conference focuses on issues important to Military members and their Families, often times quality of life items. A cross section of ranks and Family members meet for two days, with facilitators, to discuss issues that are important to their well being and the betterment of the environment they live in. On the third day they present their issues to the Command Group. Issues that cannot be resolved at installation level are forwarded to higher headquarters. If they cannot be resolved at that level they are forwarded to Department of the Army for resolution. Many positive changes have been made as a result of these conferences.
Bridal Fair
We are bringing this event back! The Fort Eustis Club joins with the Information, Ticket and Tours Office to host an event that brides to be won’t want to miss. The Club will be decorated each room in a different style showcasing the varieties of linens, table settings, center pieces and decorations available. The ITT office will provide information potential honeymoon spots to include cruises and local get a ways a variety of vendors will be on hand to display items to enhance your wedding and reception. This event is open to the public.
